HELPFUL RESOURCES
The Journey
Issue 10, Spring 2012
FROM THE CEO
Welcome to the Spring edition of The Journey.
Whilst we have been acknowledging the five year anniversary of The Mary Mother of Mercy Chapel and Crematorium, we have also been busy preparing for the launch of two exciting building projects, St Padre Pio Garden Mausoleum at Liverpool and San Antonio Garden Crypts at Rookwood. Importantly, these state-of-the-art projects are environmentally sustainable, a key strategic goal of Catholic Cemeteries and Crematoria.
We have seen a renewal in the legislation governing our industry, with changes to the governing body and the trusts running our cemeteries. As the first major reform initiative to this industry since the 1800's, these changes are being made to tackle the shortage of Sydney land for burial. It is our belief that these developments, combined with excellent governance will benefit both the industry and the community.
We continue to look at innovative ways to renew existing cemeteries such as Rookwood, and meet the expanding needs of the greater western Sydney area. We also endeavour to support funeral directors and offer families choice to ensure last wishes are achieved.
Kind Regards,
Peter O'Meara
